A 26-year-old woman allegedly stole a car and fled police in Melbourne’s south-east on Monday morning, triggering a 40-minute pursuit that ended when several police cars boxed the stolen car in on the Monash Freeway.

It is believed the woman entered a home on Stonebridge Lane in Pakenham around 7.55am before allegedly stealing the homeowner’s Suzuki Swift.

Lauryn Myers, from Pakenham, told Nine News she was getting ready upstairs when the woman broke through her garden gate and back door. She stole Ms Myers’ keys then jumped into the little black car – which Ms Myers had just finished paying off.
