With the FIFA World Cup 2018 around the corner, it’s time to get excited fans. All your questions will be answered here.

Let’s start off with who is going through the round of 16 and who will top their group table and who will leave red faced.

Teams in Group A are Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay. With Russia hosting this year’s World Cup and they get a place in World Cup without going through the qualifiers, but I can see them going through to the round of 16. However, going the distance, I highly doubt it.

This is Saudi Arabia’s 5th World Cup appearance, but I don’t see them getting out of the group stage or be a challenge to their opponents in the group stage.

Egypt’s 3rd appearance at the World Cup and they will be hoping to make their chances this year. With Mo Salah their main man and the hero who sent them to the World Cup, how much of an impact will he have and can he bring glory for them? It’s lots of pressure for one person to handle.

Uruguay finished 2nd in their qualifier behind Brazil by 10 pts. With Suarez and Cavani both scoring goals for their clubs and doing well, can they bring that form to the biggest stage in the world?

Group A predictions:

  1. Uruguay
  2. Russia
  3. Egypt
  4. Saudi Arabia

Teams in Group B are Portugal, Spain, Morocco and Iran. There’s no doubt about who’s going through in this group stage, but who will finish first between Spain and Portugal? That is going to be good to see.

With Portugal’s win in the UEFA Euro 2014, there be a lot of confidence going into the World Cup, but can they do what they did in the Euro’s and make an upset? We can only wait and see.

Spain disappointed in their last World Cup performance, they will be looking to redeem themselves in this World Cup, but I highly doubt they will win it but they will be a challenge to the other opponents.

Morocco’s 5th appearance in the World Cup and they will be facing tough opponents in the likes of Portugal and Spain in their group stage, they will be battling Iran for 3rd place in the group stage.

Iran’s 5th appearance in the World Cup and they will be hoping to break through the group stage. That does not look likely as they face Spain and Portugal in their group.

Group B predictions:

  1. Spain
  2. Portugal
  3. Iran
  4. Morocco

Teams in Group C are France, Australia, Peru and Denmark. With France being one of the favourites, you can see them finishing 1st in the group stage and having a strong team going into the World Cup. We will see them battling for that famous trophy in the finals.

Australia’s win in the playoffs gave them confidence going into the group stage but will be facing France in the first match. They will be seeing them in the round of 16, then they will see off Denmark for that 2nd place.

Peru almost didn’t get to be in the Cup this year when they were faced with scandal. After winning their playoff against New Zealand, it looked like they were going to be replaced in the World Cup, however lady luck was on their side, but that’s only as far as she will go as they will finish last in the group.

Group C predictions:

  1. France
  2. Australia
  3. Denmark
  4. Peru

Teams in Group D are Argentina, Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria. The favourites in this group are Argentina but will be facing tough opponents in Croatia, but I can see them winning the group stage with Messi in their squad. With lots of strong attackers also they will be the team to watch in the World Cup.

This will be Iceland’s first World Cup and they will be looking to take this chance and make their country proud.

Croatia are the team to fear as they can punish you in the counter attack if you waste your chances.

Nigeria be hoping to break out of this group stage, but with tough opponents I won’t see them leaving the 4th place in the group.

Group D predictions:

  1. Argentina
  2. Iceland
  3. Croatia
  4. Nigeria

The teams in Group E are Brazil, Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia. Brazil have a strong squad and will be looking to redeem themselves after a 7-1 defeat to Germany last World Cup. With players like Neymar, Coutinho, Firmino and Gabriel Jesus, you don’t want to see them coming at you at once. Brazil are one of the favourites to win the World Cup, but can they do it or will it be like 2014 all over again?

Switzerland are facing Brazil in their first match of the World Cup and it’s not going to be easy. They will be hoping to get a draw from Brazil, but will be joining Brazil in the round of 16.

Costa Rica will be battling every game in the group in the hope to find a place in the round of 16, but it doesn’t look like they will get out of the group stage and will crash out.

Serbia will be looking to make their World Cup chance and take on a tough group and will be looking to make their country proud.

Group E predictions:

  1. Brazil
  2. Switzerland
  3. Serbia
  4. Costa Rica

The teams in Group F are Germany, Mexico, Sweden and Korea Republic. With Germany the firm favourite to take this group and maybe the Cup, can they go back-to-back or choke like Spain in 2014?

Mexico will be fighting Sweden and Korea Republic for 2nd place as Germany will most likely take 1st place.

Sweden, who took Italy’s spot in the World Cup, will be battling tough opponents in their group, but will take on the defending champions Germany and claim top spot or fall?

Korea Republic are the weaker team in the group but might surprise some and possible take 2nd from Sweden and Mexico. This is a tough group to call, it can go either way.

Group F predictions:

  1. Germany
  2. Sweden
  3. Mexico
  4. Korea Republic

The teams in Group G are Belgium, Panama, Tunisia and England. With Belgium and England firm favourites to progress to the round of 16.

Belgium look the powerhouse with talent all over, this team are strong in all positions and scary when attacking, with their main man Lukaku up front and Hazard on the wing there’s no telling where the goals will come.

Panama is in it’s first World Cup appearance, but unlucky with their group draw when they landed the Red Devils Belgium and the Three Lions England. I don’t seeing them moving on to the next round.

Tunisia were also unlucky to draw against Belgium and England, but will also have the same outcome as Panama and luck out of the World Cup.

The Three Lions England only have Belgium to worry about as they look to do better than the last World Cup and progress further in the competition and challenge for the Cup.

Group G predictions:

  1. Belgium
  2. England
  3. Tunisia
  4. Panama

The teams in Group H are Poland, Senegal, Colombia and Japan. With this group, it looks unpredictable who will claim top spot and 2nd.

Poland are the team that can score when it counts and, with Lewandowski up front, they are not shy of goals from this man. Can he lead his country to the top of the group?

Senegal’s second appearance in the World Cup and they hope to make the most of it. With Mane in their team, they look for him to get the goals and bring glory to the country.

Colombia had a good run in the 2014 World Cup, but got defeated by Brazil. They’re hoping to go the distance, with Falcao and James Rodriguez on form it might happen.

Group H predictions:

  1. Colombia
  2. Senegal
  3. Poland
  4. Japan

Golden Boot could go to either Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Werner, Griezmann or Kane, but my prediction is that Messi will take the Golden Boot to his trophy cabinet.

The finals will be Argentina vs  Spain 3-1 with Messi +2, Di Maria, Morata getting the goals.

Third place will go to Brazil where they will get their revenge on Germany, with a 2-1 win and claim that third place.
